Default pipe to power steering pump

right then guys. What have i done wrong? I took my old power steering pump off and put a newer one on. Problem is that when i screw the main pipe into it, it now screws up at an angle very close to the pulley. Its 1mm away from the pulley with the belt on. Wierd??????? Cant fit a washer on it as there is a rubber one on the inside to stop leaks. Any ideas??? The threads on the old pump and new ones are identical but screw up different ie,. the old one screws up at an angle away from the pulley???

anyone?

Sounds like the thread on the new one is slightly longer to me therefore screwing in that little bit more and giving you that angle.

If i remember though when i did mine they work in the same way as turbo fixings, i.e the fixing turns independantly of the hose so you should be able to hold the hose at the angle you need and then do the bolt up that goes through the olive.
