I reckon that they were dealer fit in that case. Out of all the S12's I've been in, the only ones to have it had been fitted by the owners.

the lock up control unit dont have anything to do with central locking, according the the wiring diagram, its part of the cruise control system A.S.C.D (Automatic Speed Control Device) that looks to have only been fitted to Austrailian models.

there is no wiring diagram for central locking.

with regards to it only operating from drivers door, the fitter chooses if one or both front doors open it, there are 2 sense wires they may have been left unconnected so it only open on drivers side.

on the after market locking systems there is normally an inline fuse before the little black box, or now might even be in the side of the black box.

the box is most likely located behind the dash somewhere as they only give enuf wire for it to be there.

i have a set at me mums waiting to be fitted, and the dash is where thats going.

i would say best bet would be to find the C-locking wires as they come out the door, and follow them to the box, and then the red wire from there should have the fuse in it (normally red wire).

Hopes this helps some.
