are you sure its the fuel pump??? i would expect it to have more probs if it was that.

personally id look more to the fuel pressure reg, i think most of us on here have had to change one sometime or another.

if the fuel pump was sticking, id expect idle to be ok, and driving to be an issue??

Well im only going on what ive been told by this guy am buying it from.

This is roughly whats happening with it.

You start it it and it catches but it idles rough so it just kind of bubbles the revs sort of like how a subaru impreza sounds ..bah bah bah bah (black sheep) not a smooth idle like you would expect from a verticle piston engine.
As you squeeze the accelarator it struggles to get through the revs.

But if you lift the fuel pump cover and hit the top of the pump it'll idle fine.

Any ideas?

Its sitting in the yard at work at the moment (no tax) so im gonna borrow the works trade plates to get home and try and fix it at the weekend.

The guys givin me the workshop manual for it so that should help me along the way

Will the location of the tank breather be in the workshop manual? and i can check when i get it home?

Do you think it could be anything to do with the fact hes been putting lead replacement fluid into the fuel tank? Or will theat damage anything in the engine?

I no it has a lower igniton rate than unleaded.

Sorry I can't answer you questions but that spoiler looks good. More coherent that I would have guessed.

not sure what redex will do to your pump mate, but i think the breather (one way valve) sits on top of the tank,.
