a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing eh? common web 'knowledge' DETs with 'chocolate' bearings, ironic as they are identical to those in the bluebird and the ET in his S12...

bet you love it when you get E-mithers like those eh Pukka? maybe you should ask this Mike Stewart fella how to prep a classic Lotus F1 car or Chevron B16? he sounds like hes an 'expert', bound to know everything....

I replied when the email arrived and said pretty much what you guys have also stated. S12s came with the v6 weighing far more. The RB engine actually isnt that heavy. And i mentioned Japsters det as an example of a high powered det that has had no bigend bearing issue.. Its poor servicing and old age that are a cause for det failure. These engines are 20 years old and people are trying to tune them with bolt on mods without rebuilding them.Ive never had bigend bearings go on any of my dets'

It depends on how you treat them and what oil you use as well.A couple of well placed baffle plates will completely remove oil surge from the engine.
The ca18det was never any good if run on crappy 10w40 either,Mobil 15w50 will make it last a lot longer.
Anyway, there is more Nissan knowledge your little toe than in that tools whole body.If your man wants a proper job done then he will give it to you and not to mr classic car with his sheepercharger,or sorry I meant supercharger.

Thanks, but im not after any more project work anyway at the moment to be honest. Completely over run with them all and getting a back log

Im really looking forward to this det 120y building next week. But i have 3 other projects to do first.....

Im also on the look out for a new daily driver for myself. Considering a Pulsar atm as there about 2600 for one on coilovers with 6pot brakes etc. Just sold my lancia delta hf turbo and breaking my rs turbo escort as its been declared cat b from a bus driving into it.
Only the wing and bumper needed replacing but its cat b due to new 'government scrappage scheme legislation' apparently.
