Because our taxes are paying for it. Also, we, the general public actually didn't want the hold the olympics.
Seems to me the reason for the olympics is what I call the job creation scheme. The current government for the last 13 years have been experts at it. Not sure how much the olympics is costing us, but I'm looking forward to paying it off over the next 5 years

I will be at the 100m finish line when it comes to the mens final. Am an avid fan and think its a great thing for this country to hold.
Yes its costing the earth but having been to the Olympics in Atlanta its a fantastic experience. This time I will be watching though
