I got to a similar point, but at the time was looking at ?750 for a diff that I wasn't sure about, so she got welded.
Rallying with a welded diff is hard work though, but boy was it fun!
The poor old girl is rolling (just), but needs lower control arms, track rods, wings repairing, NS door soring, NSR quarter popping out (), spare gear box in and then painting.
Did toy with the idea of stopping rallying and just make it into a track day tool, but it won't be getting done this year. Have to work abroad a lot at the moment and house and wife takes up any tinkering time that leaves.

Miss driving the old girl!

Default Helical gear

I put a helical gear diff from an s15 into my longnose (bushes for the bolts) and got the driveshafts shortened by 32mm and she sticks her arse out for fun! IIRC cost ?300 to have the shafts shortened and ?100 off Ebay for the diff

Sounds awesome, I have no idea how to go about that, which was why I brought one I could bolt in

I did get in touch with one guy who cut his shafts and joined them up to the shafts from the diff he brought, magic if you've got the skills, shocking results if you haven't
