yes i think a lots to do with the extra weight on the studs, with my turbo looking something like the dinosaurs ribs on fred flintstones car, i'am sure if i had not made a big brace that it would have stripped by now,

oh ok your answer just seemed a bit like a retaliation.Nevermind.I must of mis-read it.Sorry.But the answer to your question is no. half the time it was at 14psi to get my turbo to last longer . towards the end of my 8v lumps past i didnt really care about the longitivity of the turbo and engine and gave it a beating.but it had a rolling road mapped 5th injector with controller box that allowed it to do much higher boost without underfueling.Did you think it was ok as i had run big boost?

Get a boost guage and then you will know if your boost controller is working correctly or not

So are you getting copper gaskets now or have you fitted standard ones again for the time being?

I didnt plan to run higher boost than a bar, as i said untill i have the safc 2 plumbed in and the walbro etc installed. The walbro will be here this week so i best get the controller wired up.

I set my turbo up with my boost gauge that is accurate, but stuck my old one back in coz it matches my aftermarket rev clock.

Youve been lucky as a decent boost gauge came witrh yours, you know how it is , aslong as youve got one period, then you tend not to put it on your priority list especially when the car has been fine the rest of the time ive had it.

As for the gaskets yeah im using standard ones again at the moment, there fine still as all 6 nuts took a really firm gripon the new studs.

Il get a set of copper ones and fit them when i can be arsed or the standard ones blow again. I havent even mentioned the 2 engine mount bolts that ive had shear off which ive had to helicoil.

The one on the inlet side was a complete nightmare to drill out etc, my patience is wearing thin with it at the moment so it better start behaving for a while

I wonder how many other people have had engine mount bolts shear off. I remember Martin had it once.I can only think its because there not done up tight enough or rattle loose?

I expect they will mate although that could be a good thing or a bad thing as they may just crumble.

OK bottom half of the gasket nearest the bulkhead blew out and caused a massive tractor like bang at 130mph!!!!

I might add that the doctor was driving the car at the time lol

We went to the seafront at brighton and all was going well,i offered a drive of my car to the dr_silvia, he was steadily cruising on the carriageway on the way home at 80mph when i told him to boot it.

So at 130 we heard a mettalic like tin noise then bang I got greedy earlier in the day and turned the boost up some more think i over cooked it by a turn as we are pretty sure this was det.

Pulled into a layby and the turbo and manifold was pretty much glowing white and spitting flames out the bottom corner of the blown gasket.

I dont know 100% if the det etc caused the gasket to blow out or not but no doubt the turbo and manifold will be coming off again tomorow aswell as inspecting the plugs etc

Just what the doctor ordered
