You could just use the complete s14 gearbox. the shifter is 2 1/2 inches further to the rear of the car so you would have to adapt your geargater slightly though. Then get the propshaft shortened.

JAPSTER uses an s14 gearbox. Or call Norris designs as they did his for him.

yea think he must be , was just thinkin of seeing if there was anything i could do to improve the box since in wreaked the old one and have to rebulid it......

I find my mk1 gearbox great.Shauns is holding out well too etc. USE redline heavy duty gearoil. She will love it. i just think you have been unlucky.

o rite cool will just crack it open and fix the knackered bits, you wouldnt happen to know where i could get a 280z short shifter from.. cant seem to find them forsale anywhere????

Unfortunately it does seem the S12 gearboxes are a bit of a weak link, with about the same strength as the S13 ones.

I've look at bellhousing swaps before.

I haven't looked at the comparison behind the mk1 and mk2 bellhousing bolt patterns. But I'm assuming they're different. I am also assuming though that the mk2 shares the same bolt pattern as the s13 box

Get an S14 box. Get a wrecked S12 mk2 box (i have one)

Removed the bell housings off each, and bolt the S12 bell housing to the S14 box.

Then see where you stand with the props. You might find a mix of mk1 and mk2 props might give the required length.
