I think the threaded tubes are 9"
Best just to put the tube a bit lower on the strut. Won't be a problem though |

ok martin, but i've just measured the standard springs and they are 9 inch as well, if the threaded tubes are welded onto the very top, they still go 4 inch past where the standard spring sits.

Yeh but bear in mind that the new springs are stiffer and won't compress as much.
You might be ok, but just be careful. It won't harm you to do put the tubes lower down, you'd never use the top bit anyway |

i get ya, i was just thinking, i'll put them a tad lower anyway, so that i'am not welding near where the thread is on the inside of the strut, so it does'nt distort the threads, i also went for the 450lb springs, i noticed that bart on the s12org used these, plus the fj20 is a heafty lump

Im running 8 kg/mm on the front which is same as 447lb.
I'm expecting to get softer springs. You really will find it too hard on the front. Certainly will be a miss match as is probably at least twice the spring rate of the rear. |

i'll probley uprate the rears to coilovers and change to stiffer as well, that bart guy reckons his aint to harsh, but i'am thinking of the weight of the fj, its about 188kg.i've had solid mounts made for the fj and it sits it about 15mm lower with no clearance issues.

Just go careful when throwing the car down a slight bumpy B road. Bart doesn't have them in the US of A.
That spring rate is suitable for race tracks that almost perfectly smooth by the way. How much heavier is the FJ over the CA. Is it about 40kg? |
