Default LSD 300zx

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a limited slip diff. I know the s13 lsd can be used but they are pretty hard to find over here. I read that a 300zx z31 lsd diff can be used, but i don't know if this is true?

I know a z31 diff for sale so maybe i can measure it and see if it can work. Do you know other diffs then a s13 diff that can be fitted on a s12?

Thanks!!
Frank

Thanks that's a good tip, i don't have to search for a z31 lsd more.

Do you know other cars which have a lsd and it can be used with little modifications on the s12?

Im thinking of an lsd posibility. So if an s13 lsd fits, and an s14 lsd fits s13, this must mean that an s14 lsd fits s12, right? These aint so terribly hard to find here, so would be an option if they fit ofcourse.

I read the LSD threads on the other forum, thanks for the info 30psi!

Don't know if i have understand it correctly, you need:

- s13 lsd diff internals
- short s12 shaft from left side(so need to buy a second one from scapyard, or make it shorter)
- s13 vlsd right input shaft
- s12 output shaft left - "machined like the s13 vlsd input shaft" Does this mean that you have to fabricate it to the same shape as the s13 input shaft?
I don't really understand this

And that's all that's neaded right? Please correct me if i'm wrong

Is it by the way hard to change the s13 internals to the s12 diff casing?

You need to install the S13 unit with the S12 ring gear in the case. This has to be done perfectly, and is best to be organised.

The Left shaft is fine, it just needs a little bit of grinding to make it similar to the S13 inner shaft for that side.

You need the S13 RHS inner shaft, and related 6 bolt CV housing. You get your 2nd LHS shaft and remove the inner CV, and fit the S13 one. Then you bolt the 6 bolt inner to this.
