How much do you want to spend?

You have these options:

lowering springs on standard dampers
lowering springs with KYB's
rear lowering springs and converted coilovers with camber tops
rear lowering springs and S13 coilovers
S13 coilovers all round.

Further down the list gives better results however involves more work and more money.

S13 coilovers can be fitted to the front if you get the hubs as well, and this will give damn good results. The rear end will be saggy in comparison so you could either go custom springs or adapt S13 ones to fit. If you can weld and angle grind I reckon these wouldnt be too hard to fit.

I would consider improved bushes as well.

The S12 has 1" ARB's all round, so unlike the S13 isnt in desperate need of uprating.

Are the S13 uprated ones different diameter? I suspect the front ARB might be compatible but the rear is a definite no no because of the gay way it bends round the prop on the S13 IIRC

how much work is actually involved in fitting the s13 front hubs/suspension, is there much/any grinding and welding or does it just bolt on when using the s13 hubs??

Everything is bolt in. The only issue is the tapered hole that the track rod end goes into on the hub is slightly smaller on the S13.

This means the nut only goes on half way down. Now you can grind the hub down a bit which will allow the nut down further enough to put a split pin on.

Also the wheels will be quick towed out, so therefore you have to adjust the rod ends outwards, which don't leave many threads holding them together. Its probably ok but not ideal.

That said if you use S13 track rods and ends the above won't be an issue at all.

The S13 rods are pretty thin and have been known to snap whilst drifting. I've got these to go on, which allow more adjustment as well, so more spacers can be used:

so you can retain the s12 lower arm, ball joint and tension rod, and just pop the s13 hub onto it? i guess this might also give a bit extra steering lock, as i think the steering arm on the s13 hub must be a bit shorter, as the have more lock as standard??
