Default s12 s13 s14 interchangable parts?

ok, the sr20det gearbox fits the ca18det... so im guessing it fits the ca18et?
and if the ca18det fits into the s12 with relative ease.

how easy is it to fit the sr20det?
as the sr20det goes into the s13 with relative ease...

is there much involved in fitting these parts?

would it be just a case of bolting in the sr20det with either the ca18det box or sr20 and the complete sr20 loom?

what other parts can be fitted from either car?

i know the t28 fits by rotating the core and possibly fitting a spacer/flange
which also means the gtir t28 would fit...

does the ca18det head bolt straight onto the et block?

and the et head fit straight onto the det block?

would be handy to have a list of all parts and the difficulty level in fitting/ amount of work etc...

The SR20 gearbox doesn't fit the CA18DET.

Its the same family of box which means the CA bellhousing is interchangeable. So ya need a spare bell housing for it to be fitted.

The SR20 would be very easy to fit I would just get an SR and box together.

The S13 SR20 engine came with a T25G. The S14 SR20 engine came with a T28.

The heads aren't changeable without some level of work. It would be harder to fit a DET head to an ET as opposed to vice versa

so the sr20det is easy to fit in the s12?
what would be needed?

i know i would have to get the driveshafts modified to fit... im assuming shortened...?

what would i need other than the engine, gearbox and loom?

Erm...An SR?

I would just get hold of S14 engine mounts and brackets, bodge them in then it an easy install. Prob the gearbox mount will be in a different place and the prop would be the wrong length. Gearstick would be in a slightly different position

why fit an SR? nasty agricultural engine that's VERY expensive when they go wrong, and don't listen to people who say they never go wrong because they certainly do and usually they give you very little warning

personally I'd build a CA18DET, you can get an engine that needs building for £50, spend £600-800 on it and you've got a spotless engine which can bolt to the ET gearbox so no need for fabrication. an SR gearbox alone will go for £250
