Default Front bumper/rear lights

Been looking on club s12 and seen that alot of the s12's have a different style of front that doesn't have the rectangle mould on the front like UK ones have for the reg plate. Was wondering what way it could be changed to fit square import style plates? Also the rear middle section, seen ones with a square middle instead and also square rear lights with reverse lights in the bumper below. Are these an easy change or fairly easy to source even?

Cheers

Hoy there.

Well, let me see if I can answer your questions. What you are asking about, the difference in the front bumpers. What you are seeing is the difference between MKI and MKII over here.

MKI

MKII

If you are seeking a front bar/bumper cover such as in the second picture, I do not believe it would be that much in order to put on a number plate as the ones you have over there. I can test fit a UK number plate on my bumper, seeing as I have a MKII bumper.

Then you are also asking for the number plate/license plate holder such as this:

Euro MKII

US MKII

If you were to use the US spec MKII centre piece, it would not work with your longer and thinner number plates. I just took the number plates CamInHead sent me and it is totally different. First off, your mountings are different, though a couple holes to make it mount may not be that big of an issue. The issue will be the fact that you will have to cut about 4cm off of each side. This is a great amount that according to the number plates I have, the first most and last most number/letter was would have been cut off from your plate.

The difference between US and Euro MKII is the centre piece where the number plate goes and the metal pieces that go between the bumper and the tail lights/number plate centre.

Unless you are looking for a setup such as this:
US MKI

*note* this is CamInHead's s12 with the tail setup I sent him. He has US spec MKI tails with MKII rear bumper.

Another picture with not as clear of a view.

this is the full MKI with the reverse lights in the bumper.

The main difference are the tails. You have horizontal 'stripes' to yours as where we have the 6 packs, as did the Aussies get. As with both, the reverse lights are in the bumper.

Thanks so much for that reply Draconis, see i'm getting square plates to replace the rectangle ones so was wondering about the rear fitment like the US S12 centre piece, would it be possible to get one of those. Ideally i'd want that set up you showed last.

How hard would it be to get my car like that?

You need either US or Australian Mk1 "6-pack" taillights. The rest ie; bumper, numberplate trim and bootlock trim is all universal.
