Unhappy Nackered t3

My turbo is on its way out

Thought i would share it with you lol.

I blame it on viper Performance for taking 8 weeks to make me up a bit of custom silicon hose when they said it would take 10-12 days. Ive been driving the car with a split boost hose to work and back all this time.It was siliconed up with repair gel but even the slightest on boost leak would of killed the turbo from over spooling to compensate.95% of the time i have kept it off boost. It smokes once or twice every few days when its warm and the turbo stops spooling on idle. Im going to have to hope it holds up until i have time to change it.The hose should arrive next week.If i havnt sorted it for Mod nationals i will have to take it very easy around the track and enjoy the scenery

I am just going to buy an exchange t3 from turbo technics as i cant be arsed with second hand units anymore or the risk of buying a poorly made rebuild kit.

i orderd a hose from viper on monday and got it on tuesday pukka get a price on the t3 from anywhere and i bet i can get a brand new item for cheaper.if you order from turbo technics you will get a recon unit, take a look at mine brand new from garrett in the usa, 550 quid, and proper size not a t3 machined out to be a t34

Yeah Viper Performance are normally really good in the past. Its becuase they changed there moulds from the piece i got from them before and i had to sent it back as i couldnt cut it down to fit like my previous bit.

It was a 90 degree reducing bend.My pipework needs a single reducing section before the bend and the bit i got had had the mould changed to half reduced before the bend and the rest after the bend so i couldnt cut one end down.

He said he would order the piece to be made straight away if i paid postage both ways and then post it out on reciept of the hose. I paid it and posted my bit back a week later as i was told it would take 10-12 days.

I waited 2 1/2 weeks after it was supposed to arrive and then contacted him again and was told i got your hose the other day just after i put my order in to the factory so now you need to wait til next weeks order for it to go in and then its 12 days from then.
Being messed about basically....

Anyway.........Back to turbo prices. Im after a std cosworth size t3 turbo,no bigger as everything else is now setup to run around 260bhp at around 17psi.

If you can get a good price on one let me know although i cant afford one for a month as i have too much fibreglass materials and respray paint to pay for right now

the forward/back play is getting worse.I recon ive got about 6 weeks tops out of it now until its constant smoke rather than the once in a while when its really hot, that it does now

Im tempted by a t34 like yours after feeling the characteristics of yours at mod nat but not sure if i can afford it. could you see if you could get me a price from your guy on a std 4x4 cosworth style t3 and one the same but with a 360 bearing. I want to make a decision between the 3 depending on cost. I got a quote for 420 from turbo technics for a rebuilt std t3 unit

feckin hell mate, turbo technics will charge you more for a recon than i payed for my brand new one, my t34 was only £575 with the flange to make it into a external wastegate.

its ok them giving you a quote over the phone jon, but until they have seen the turbo you won't know, they will prob say to you, oh the exhaust housing is cracked, so that will be another £100, have you tried turbo active, they usually beat any quote.

Default Turbo repairs Blackpool

Try Jacl @ TURBO REPAIRS Blackpool 01253 407646. I've used these around Four times and their work is second to none. They don't charge for collection/delivery. For example a Recon T2 is £195 all in and he will make up any hybrids etc to your spec
