Ive done a few tyres like that on the offside rear a few years ago from being skint and not buying new tyres.

only time my tyres did that, was on my mk1 and that was on the rears when it had been lowered, i found that even with the camber conversion that it would still feck the side walls up, i found that changing fron 40's to 45's sorted the problem,i think they look better, 40's don't fill the arch enough on 17's. youcan get 225/45/17's on the front ,but i hsd to grind a little window in the spring cup so that it din't rub.

Never happened to me before, but I have had a steel wheel shear off completely, the centre of it is now mounted and is a trophey for my motorclub, the 'Wheel of misfortune'
