what engine has it got, if its the fj20 i think that sits higher than the ca18 hence why they had the bonnet bulge, the mk2 also have a bonnet bulge, could be hitting the engine if so???
take a few pics of under the bonnet, then we my be able to point out the prob with being able to see whats under there. **edit** ignore the FJ20 bit, i think only the mk1's had the FJ didnt they.
