shaun do you know how heavy your flywheel is?
no sorry mate , it was put in by SE, so i never had the chance to weigh it,i only found out last year that it was a lightend one, that was after having to take the starter out, i had payed for one, but ya never know with SE if they had put the parts in that ya payed for.lol.

kl not to worry mate was just an idea

also ive remembered that the flywheels i've removed from mk1 and 2 engines have been different... does anybody know if there is a weight difference between the two (just bein curious again)

i had an SE S12 that was approx 10.5kgs iirc (stock 14.5kgs) and the ones i had machined were 9.5kgs. It would be difficult to get a machined std ET one down much below 9kgs and it still stay in one piece!
In my opinion a 4.5kg flywheel ould be pointless on a road car. Yes it would rev more freely but on a clockwork ecu the bloody thing would forever be cutting out. Most race cars that have mega light flys, have 2000rpm tickovers for a reason.
